Toyota has unveiled today the hybrid version of the Toyota Camry Sedan for Australia which is going to enter the Australian market in February 2010. The car was launched at the Altona plant where the official production started today. The Toyota Camry Hybrid is powered by a 2.4L petrol engine and also an electric drive which produce together 188 HP, 31 HP more than the stock version of the Camry sedan which had only 157 HP.

Small family cars are a big thing in the Indian market which is slowly but steadily becoming the global hub for such cars. The latest sensation that has its name doing rounds across the country is the small family car Toyota Etios which is slated to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift. The segment to which it caters is a very competitive one in the Indian market and therefore Toyota has priced the Etios competitively at 4.5 lakh ($10,000).

The subtly revised 2010 Dodge Viper ACR, which is set to make its world premiere at next month’s Los Angeles Auto Show, has set a new lap record at the Laguna Seca with a time of 1:33.915 as recorded by Motech in-vehicle data recorder (1:33.944” as unofficially recorded by trackside clock) breaking the previous lap record of 1.35.117 set by a Devon GTX this past August. The 2010 Dodge Viper ACR was piloted by SRT vehicle dynamics engineer, Chris Winkler.

Hyundai announced today that the front-wheel-drive 2011 Hyundai Tucson GLS model will come in at $18,995 ($19,490 with the $795 destination charge included) with the standard 176-horsepower, 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual transmission.

Hyundai will bring the Santa Fe SUV as CKD kits, probably from Korea, next year. The Santa Fe would be the apt contender in the segment which is currently the most talked about in India, especially after the arrival of the Toyota Fortuner and refreshed Ford Endeavor.

Sources tell us Toyota might display the FT-86 along with 13 others cars at the Auto Expo next month. The FT-86 is inspired by the Corolla-based AE86 sports coupe of the ’80s. The concept was designed by Toyota’s ED2 styling studio in France and bears a close resemblance to the FT-HS concept exhibited at the Detroit Auto Show few years back.
